Prerequisites
Experience on a trip of comparable distance / elevation in any season (9 miles / 3000ft). Attendance of the mandatory winter school lectures (any year).

It's mud season up in the whites, which means higher elevation trails are especially fragile & slushy. While that all dries up, we'll be taking the opportunity to trek up two lower elevations summits which share a trailhead.

We'll be following the route here, potentially bypassing the stream crossing on the way up with a road walk. It's around 9 miles and 3000ft of vert.

This should be a great chance to get out while things are still drying out and warming up. We're optimistic that the trail will be dry, but if not this will be an opportunity to practice avoiding trail erosion by trekking straight through any mud puddles.

The forecast calls for some scattered higher clouds and relatively warm temps in the range of 40-50F. It should be a good chance to start shedding those winter layers, though we'll still be carrying all the gear for a winter trip.

There will be an optional pre-trip meeting Thursday at 6PM in the office to help people rent gear and answer any questions. We’ll also have a zoom link if anyone would like to call in.

We'll add more space if there's enough interest and another driver joins the trip. If you're unsure about prerequisites, please reach out to Thomas and Zsofia, we're happy to take people with less experience, but just need to touch base and make sure the trip is a good fit.

Notes
  1. What is a comparable trip you've done before (any season). Please include the trail and rough distance/elevation.
  2. Have you attended the winter school mandatory lectures?
  3. What do you think is the right way to walk through a muddy puddle on a trail? Hint above, but we'll go over this in more detail during the trip.
